To secure a job on cruise ships and ferries, start by visiting the company websites and navigating to the ‘Work with Us’ or ‘Careers’ sections. Submit your updated CV, which will be reviewed by the Medical Department. The following stage involves an online interview. Candidates should possess language skills, emergency experience, and certifications in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS/PHTLS. A valid passport, navigation book, and current STCW certifications are also necessary.
On ferries, doctors work independently, managing the ship’s infirmary and addressing the health and emergency needs of passengers and crew.
Cruise ships have a medical team comprising doctors, nurses, and secretaries. For cruise ship roles, familiarity with SEACARE is essential. SEACARE is the leading medical and public health platform used by over 95% of cruise lines.
Since 2023, a learning platform has offered a Certification Program that equips maritime professionals with the necessary system knowledge.
There are three certification options available. For more information, visit Tritan Software at https://training.tritansoft.com/
